我們知道according to someone = 根據某人的意思

而比照辦理也就是根據/ 照著前者做，accordingly 就有這個意思。

其實 accordingly 在學術文章中也很常用，只是大家普遍在閱讀上較難反應過來如何用。

既然如此我們先從英文解釋來下手。

1. Cambridge Dictionary

定義: in a way that is suitable for the situation 照著

(eg)

Dianna is an expert in her field and is paid accordingly. 

黛安娜是這個領域的專家而且得到了相對的報酬。

因為可以根據著前者做，於是翻為照著。(報酬照著專家的行情)

除此之外 accordingly還有另一個用法，常在TOEFL / IELTS閱讀中出現。

2. Oxford Dictionary

定義: as a result, therefore 結果  (照著前者做結果就出來了)

(eg)

The rules of land law were accordingly altered in order to facilitate the process. 

為了使過程更便利，土地法的規則也因此調整了。

TOEFL TPO 例句: 

Because they are always swimming, tunas simply have to open their mouths and water is forced in and over their gills. Accordingly, they have lost most of the muscles that other fishes use to suck in water and push it past the gills.

因為鮪魚從不停止游動，它們必須張著嘴使水流經它們的腮。也因為如此，其他魚類嘴裡用於吸水和從腮裡排水的肌肉，鮪魚已經退化。
